The project 'Europa in de klas' ran throughout the school year 2014-2015 and is succeeded the Jean Monnet Project 2013-2014 'Europe in the classroom' and the project 'Teach, dream and design Europe' (2012). The projects are co-financed by the European Commission within the action 'Jean Monnet Project'.The most tangible output is the database www.europaindeklas.be where teachers find educational material, contests or visits on the theme 'Europe' in Flanders.  

The main purpose of the projects is to encourage teachers the work more and in a high quality manner on the theme Europe in the classroom. 

 

Europe in the classroom 2014-2015

The activities within the Jean Monnet Project 2014-2015 were:

  • For teachers:
    • To keep the website www.europaindeklas.be with an overview of the didactic offer in Flanders on the theme 'Europe' up to date and elaborate its content. This database is online since January 2013, as a first outcome of the Jean Monnet Project 2012.
    • Intensive teacher training track in Spring 2015. Module 1 focussed on how to teach Europe in an appealing and enthusing way. Module 2 was organised in the European Quarter in Brussels and showed how Brussels can be used as a rich learning environment for Europe education.  
    • An update of the educational game 'Grens-weg' for pupils in the third grade of primary education (11-12 years old). 
  • For future teachers: A free interactive workshop 'Europa in de klas' for 12 teacher training institutions in Flanders.
  • For students: A free workshop 'EU 2050' for 10 secondary schools with a technical departement in Flanders, a brand new and tailor-made workshop for students in technical education.

 

Europe in the classroom 2013-2014

The activities within the Jean Monnet Project 2013-2014 were:

  • For teachers:
    • To keep the website www.europaindeklas.be with an overview of the didactic offer in Flanders on the theme 'Europe' up to date, further develop it and promote the website. This database is online since January 2013, as a first outcome of the Jean Monnet Project 2012.
    • Teacher training day on the European Parliament elections 2014, in cooperation with 'De kracht van je Stem' of the Flemish Parliament.   
    • Development of new didactic material on the European Parliament elections 2014, in cooperation with 'De kracht van je Stem' of the Flemish Parliament. Europe House Ryckevelde was responsible for the European part.
  • For future teachers: A free workshop for more than 400 students in 12 different teacher training institutions in Flanders.  
  • For students: A free and interactive workshops for more than 200 students in vocational education. The workshops were brand new and tailor-made for the target group: 'Shortcut Europa' and 'Verkiezingsstrijd '14'.
